Jeffrey M. Lyness, MD
Dr. Lyness is President and CEO of the ABPN, and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry. Before assuming his current position at the ABPN in 2023, he served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and was Professor of Psychiatry and of Neurology at Rochester. He formerly served in the Department of Psychiatry as Associate Chair for Education and Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Program, and for the School as Director of (medical student) Curriculum and as Medical Director for Continuing Medical Education.
Dr. Lyness is certified by the ABPN in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry and participates in continuing certification. He previously had served as an ABPN director, as Vice Chair of the ABPN board, and on several ABPN committees. Dr. Lyness is a Past President of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, a past Chair of the Steering Committee of the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Group on Faculty Affairs, and a past Chair of the American Board of Medical Specialties Health Policy and Strategy Committee. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the American College of Psychiatrists.
