Aatif M. Husain, MD, MBA
Aatif M. Husain, MD, MBA, is Professor in the Department of Neurology and Chief of the Division of Epilepsy, Sleep and Clinical Neurophysiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He also serves as Co-Medical Director of the Neuroscience Clinical Service Unit and Medical Director of the Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratories at Duke.
Dr. Husain is certified by the ABPN in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, and Sleep Medicine and participates in continuing certification. He has served for nearly two decades as Program Director of the Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship and for over a decade as Program Director of the Sleep Medicine fellowship at Duke, reflecting his longstanding commitment to education and physician training. In 2022, he completed an MBA, complementing his leadership roles in academic medicine and national professional organizations.
Dr. Husain has held numerous national leadership roles, including President of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, Treasurer of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology, National Director of the VA Epilepsy Centers of Excellence, and member of the Board of Directors of the American Epilepsy Society. His editorial leadership includes service as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology and Associate Editor of Clinical Neurophysiology Practice. As an ABPN Director, Dr. Husain serves on the Neurology Council and multiple ABPN committees.
Dr. Husain is an internationally recognized clinician-scientist whose work focuses on epilepsy, critical care EEG, intraoperative neuromonitoring, evoked potentials, sleep medicine, and the application of artificial intelligence in clinical neurophysiology.
